Why choose cashmere over wool?

Cashmere wool fibers are among the finest and most exclusive natural fibers of all time. The fibers of cashmere are much finer than wool. Our cashmere fibers are 15,8 microns. This makes cashmere yarn very insulating (10 times more than wool). That's why this rare fibre is perfect for any season.

But what is cashmere?

Cashmere is the thin layer of fine fleece that grows at the roots of the goat's hair. This cashmere layer grows in the cold winter months to keep the goats warm and is separated by hand once the climate gets warmer. Cashmere is very rare and represents 0,2% of the world's total animal fibres. Due to its quality and optimal characteristics cashmere is also called soft gold.

Collecting cashmere by hand

Cashmere is carefully collected by hand during the spring season when the Capra Hircus goat naturally sheds its winter coat. This process is completely harmless for the goats and even helps them to be more comfortable when temperature rises. Our cashmere sweaters require cashmere combed by hand from an everage of 4 goats.
